Dear Cougar Families,
The boot is staying at University! Congratulations to our football team and coaches on Friday’s win over Colonial. It was a wonderful way to finish Crush Colonial Week and celebrate a tradition that brings our students, staffulty, families and alumni together. I love seeing that Cougar spirit and the excitement our students bring to being part of University.
Our Student Government Association gave us another reason to celebrate, raising more than $3,700 for the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. Thank you to our student leaders for their work and to everyone who contributed. They took a friendly rivalry and made it an opportunity to help others. That is something we can all feel good about.
What I appreciate about our school is that there are so many ways for students to find their place and make a contribution. Whether they are sharing their voices through The Torch, getting involved in a club or organization, or supporting their classmates, our students help shape the school we are building together. I am grateful for our staffulty, including our school nurse, who care for them and support those experiences every day.
Thank you for being part of our Cougar community and for celebrating our students with us. Remember, every Friday is blue and gold Friday. Wear your school colors and help us show our students that their Cougar family is behind them!
Go Cougars!

Congratulations to our Student Government Association (SGA) for raising a little over $3,700 for the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks!
Through their hard work, creativity, and dedication, our SGA turned lunchtime into an opportunity to give back to an amazing cause. Students and staffulty came together to support our fundraiser by making cash donations to pie and dunk their favorite students and staff members, as well as contributing additional donations to help us reach our goal!
What makes this accomplishment so special is that every dollar raised came directly from the generosity of our school community. Our SGA members worked hard to organize and promote this fundraiser, proving that when we come together for a cause that matters, we can make a meaningful difference!
A huge THANK YOU to every student, teacher, staff member, and supporter who donated, participated, and helped make this fundraiser a success. Your generosity helps support the fight against breast cancer and makes a difference for those impacted by this disease.
We are so proud of our SGA and our school community for showing that school spirit is about more than just showing up — it's about showing up for others!
Together, we raised more than $3,700, and together, we can make a difference!

Our Student Government Association attended D3 this past Saturday at Horizon High School for an exciting day of leadership, collaboration, and learning! Throughout the event, our students had the opportunity to connect and network with other SGAs from across the district, exchange ideas, and learn from one another’s experiences.
Our Cougars also had the chance to both host and attend workshops, allowing them to share their knowledge, explore new approaches to student leadership, and generate fresh ideas to bring back to our campus. In addition, keynote speakers shared valuable insights and inspiration to help our students continue growing as leaders and making a positive impact on our school community.
We are so proud of our SGA members for taking advantage of these opportunities to learn, collaborate, and strengthen their leadership skills! We can’t wait to see the amazing ideas and initiatives they bring back to University.

Looking to make a real difference in our community? Join the Helping the Homeless Club! It is a student-led organization dedicated to supporting those in need through hands-on action and community service. This past Friday, our Cougars also traded in their blue and gold for pink to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped spread awareness by wearing pink. It’s always wonderful to see our school community come together to support meaningful causes!

Nurse Debbie is a huge Disney fan and a proud pet mom to her Golden Retriever, Loki, and four cats! She loves serving as the club sponsor for HOSA and supporting her students. Some of her favorite things include the color pink, spending time with her daughter, relaxing at the beach, and listening to her favorite artist, P!nk. Thank you, Nurse Debbie, for all you do for our school community! |
Boo at the U is open to UHS families and the entire community. The event will feature vendors, nonprofit organizations, bounce houses, obstacle courses, and plenty of family-friendly activities. Our amazing Theatre Magnet Program will also host its annual Haunted House for a small admission fee!

Clubs should send one representative to Cougar Council to share what their club is organizing and collaborate with other leaders on campus. This is in 14-102 during A and B lunches.
|
Our SGA is planning on collecting enough meals for 100 families in need! If interested in donating, please email Ms. Rasmussen at sarah.rasmussen2@ocps.net.
