Celebrating Excellence, Building Pride, One Student at a Time

Welcome to the Cougar Roar, your source for celebrating the amazing accomplishments, talents, and moments that make our Cougar Pride shine! Each edition will highlight the students, staffulty, and events that make our school community something to be proud of.

Principal's Message:

Dear Cougar Families,

I wish every family could spend a little time walking through University during the school day. You would hear students rehearsing, see them refining their work in our performing arts classes, and find others preparing for a game, working with a club, or helping a classmate. Our students bring so many different talents to this campus. Getting to see those talents grow is one of my favorite parts of being their principal.

Being a performing arts magnet school is an important part of who we are. I am proud of the work our students put into their craft and of the teachers who challenge them to keep growing. I am equally proud when I see that dedication in our classrooms, on our teams, and throughout our school. Our Cougars give us good reasons to celebrate every week.

I hope you enjoy this edition of Cougar Roar and take a moment to recognize the students and staffulty featured in it. Thank you to SGA for helping us share more of what makes University such a special place. I am proud to be your principal and proud to be a Cougar!

Go Cougars!

Connectivity Day

On October 2, students came together for Connectivity Day! Each student chose an experience in the PAC, gym, or cafeteria, with shows, games, and trivia offering different ways to participate. It was wonderful to see students spending time with friends, cheering one another on, and enjoying the amazing performances by our magnet students. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a celebration of our school community!

Theatre: Murder on the Orient Express!

Our first Theatre production of the school year begins next week! Mark your calendars for our upcoming murder/mystery play, Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, with shows playing October 8-11! Tickets on sale now. $5 student tickets are available at the door with a valid Student ID.

Parental Guidance: Ken Ludwig’s adaptation balances suspense with theatrical humor and fast-paced staging. However, due to the overarching themes of revenge and child abduction, parental discretion is advised for younger children.

Staffulty Shout-Out

Recognizing the incredible teachers and staff who help our students succeed every day.

The Staffulty member of the week is Ashley Steadman!
Ms. Steadman enjoys relaxing at the beach and traveling the world. Her favorite subject is science, and what she loves most about UHS is the people she works with and the laughs she shares with students. Her favorite foods are Taco Bell’s Beefy 5-Layer Burrito and the Daviola pizza from Mangias.
