The UHS Book Club held a successful interest meeting, with approximately 20 students attending! Members had the opportunity to learn more about the club, connect with fellow readers, and nominate their new officers. We are excited to see what the Book Club accomplishes this year. Congratulations to all the students who participated and stepped forward to take on leadership roles!

The UHS boys’ and girls’ swim teams also made an impressive start to their seasons by hosting their first meet on September 2. Both teams delivered outstanding performances: the boys earned an incredible 81–14 victory, while the girls secured an equally impressive 88–31 win. Congratulations to all our swimmers and coaches on beginning the season with two fantastic victories! We look forward to cheering them on throughout the rest of the season.

HOSA held its first meeting of the school year on September 3! During the meeting, members learned more about blood, its essential functions in the human body, and the importance of blood donation. The organization is now preparing for its upcoming blood drive on September 17. This event will give eligible members of the UHS community an opportunity to help save lives and make a meaningful difference. We are excited to see HOSA begin the year by combining healthcare education, student leadership, and service to others!

The Asian Student Association (ASA) will hold its next meeting on September 10. Students are invited to attend, connect with other members, and learn more about the organization’s plans and activities for the school year. ASA offers students an opportunity to celebrate Asian cultures, build community, and participate in engaging events throughout the year. We look forward to seeing both returning and prospective members at the meeting!

Congratulations to Lesse Lorenz Garcia for demonstrating outstanding leadership as the Book Club’s co-president! Lesse played an important role in coordinating the club’s successful interest meeting, which welcomed approximately 20 students, and helped organize the nomination process for this year’s new officers. Her dedication, organization, and enthusiasm helped create an inviting environment where students could connect through their shared love of reading and become involved in the club. Thank you, Lesse, for stepping up as a student leader and helping the UHS Book Club begin the year on such a strong note!

We would like to recognize Mrs. Balaban for generously volunteering her time, talent, and enthusiasm to serve as a co-sponsor of the UHS Book Club. Her willingness to support our students provides club members with a welcoming space where they can share their love of reading, exchange ideas, and build meaningful connections with one another. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication to creating enriching opportunities beyond the classroom and for helping the Book Club begin the year on such a positive note.
